An Open Letter to I-TRAIN Users -

As you may already be aware, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is currently working closely with the County Welfare Directors' Association of California (CWDA) and other counties across California on an advocacy effort to change two federal TANF (Temporary Aid to Needed Families) re-authorization policies currently being proposed in the House of Representatives that would have a negative impact on the workforce and businesses.

Specifically, they are trying to enlist the support of business, workforce development, economic development, and education and training organizations by asking that they sign-on to the letter attached at the bottom of this e-mail. I want to personally ask each you to consider (if you have not already done so) signing onto the attached sign-on letter on behalf of your organization.

In addition, it would be extremely helpful if you could distribute a copy of the sign-on letter to the local businesses/employers, and business organizations with whom you currently partner, and ask them to consider signing on as well.

To make it easier for you to directly mail or e-mail the attached sign-on letter and form to your business partners, the Los Angeles County staff has prepared the attached sample cover letter for you to consider customizing and putting on your own letterhead to transmit to your partners.

To sign-on to the attached letter, please send your completed sign-on form (which is also attached to this e-mail as a separate document) to CWDA by fax, e-mail, or mail, as indicated at the bottom of the sign-on form.

Please also e-mail or fax a copy of your completed sign-on form to the Los Angeles County staff at (562) 699-3671. Please call Phil Ansell, at (562) 908-8486 if you have any questions about this sign-on letter effort.

Thank you very much for your help on this effort. I look forward to continuing our work together on welfare-to-work and workforce development issues in the future.
